Where O Where is Lula Bell

Lula Bell is one on the many nicknames I have for my sweet granddaughter L. Last night the family all came over for FHE, dinner and a lesson. After we were all done and most everyone had left, someone asked where L was. A quick check outside and downstairs and around the upstairs and no answer. So we all start to get really worried and start doing a more through search. I don't know what was going through the mind of everyone else, but I kept thinking that some of the kids just left and she could be outside in the cold and dark, but then you would think we would hear her crying, so then you start thinking the worst. Dennis is running around the house yelling her name, but there is no answer. Then I hear this really faint cry, like it's coming from downstairs, but Dennis has been down there and checked it out thoroughly. I happened to be standing in the hallway and heard it again and decided to check out my bedroom because it was the only place we had not looked yet, and there she was, coming out of my closet (of all places). I guess we will never know what she was doing in there, all alone with the bedroom door shut. Later when I was getting ready for bed, I noticed that the dresser scarf was hanging off the dresser and half the contents that normally sit on top were now on the floor. My sweet little Lula Bell was having a grand time in grandma's room with noone to tell her she couldn't. Still, I can't imagine what she was doing in the closet......We just count our many blessings that we found her and found her safe!!!

Snow Fun!

The kids and grandkids came to visit this afternoon and as usual the "cousins" had so much fun together. First there was the toys, then rubber stamping, of course some Little Einsteins, and then being in the house was just too boring and C got the great idea to make a sledding hill down the stairs of the deck. They had so much fun with it.

C clearing off the deck and making a snow run.

Having snow much fun on the man made tubing hill.

Good thing grandma keeps extra hats and gloves on hand for days like this, there little hands and ears were so red and cold

Just look at the smile on that face

When you get tired of tubing, you find other snow fun things to do.

He was so happy on the swings and did not want to get off and come inside

Dear Friends

Today we had breakfast with some very dear friends. Ready for a long story.

Dennis had a best friend named Scott in high school. Scott was instrumental in Dennis' joining the church. He always called Scott's mom (Dorothy) his adopted mom. She was probably the most kind person Dennis knew growing up, and a great example of a family growing up in the gospel. When I met Dennis the first person he waned me to meet outside his family was Dorothy Carrasco (Scott was on a mission at the time).
I instantly fell in love with her and her family. Ever since then we have been close with them.

Intermission to the story:
Dennis loves to tell people that he was Scott's first and last baptism. His first before he left for the mission field and the last one when he got home. You see, Dennis was baptized when he was 19 years old and Scott was just about to leave for his mission, and Dennis wanted Scott to do it. Roll forward 2 years. Dennis and I have met, fell in love and were ready to be sealed in the temple, but the church could not find his baptismal records, so in order for us to go to the temple, he had to be re baptized. Scott had just returned from his mission, so Dennis asked him to do the honors - again.

Back to the present story:
Dorothy's husband Mike passed away quite a few years ago around Valentines Day and Scott passed away about 4 years ago. A couple years back Dorothy started having a Breakfast at Golden Corral for all her family on the Saturday closest to his passing away. We have always been invited. We love getting together with them. The are very special people. Carrasco's - WE LOVE YOU!!!

A walk down memory lane

Dennis has been scanning some old pictures into our computer. It sure does bring back a lot of memories.

My sweet grandma & grandpa

Dennis grandma & her husband

Christmas circa 1970
My mom and sisters

My little brother that passed away when he was 12 (I was 16)

Christmas morning

Our new FORD GRAN TORINO ELITE
We were so excited!!

Our son was named after this grandpa.
Juan Nepomoseno Archuleta, we added Marcos to our sons name so we could call him something other than Neppy.

Thanks for taking a walk down memory lane with me. I hope you enjoyed it. I sure did!

Poor Bambi

Dennis sees the most random things happen at work. He works for the UP railroad, and his current job is flagging (getting track & time) for the construction company that is building a new bridge in Spanish Fork Canyon over the railroad tracks. Last Thursday he came home and said that a deer had gotten trapped on the bridge. He said the deer was lucky he didn't fall to his death, the only way to get into the "cage" was by a narrow hole at the top, and very close to the narrow ledge he was on. Here are some of the photos Dennis took.

Near the third 2x4 post from the left is the small opening, the only way possible for Bambi to fall in.

Bambi wants to get out

Help is on the way

Finally....FREEDOM!!!
Dennis nearly got bowled over taking this shot, Bambi was so anxious to be free.

Safe and Sound
