A week vacation at Fish Lake and Capital Reef

What a wonderful week we just had on our vacation. First Dennis and I spent 3 days at Fish Lake, fishing, bike riding and relaxing. I caught a CARP, can you believe it! Here everyone else are catching REAL fish and I end up catching a carp. I thought I had a snag, which I had had plenty of that day, and Dennis had me give my pole to him and I was more than happy to let him deal with the latest snag. When he finally got it "unsnagged", and to shore, there was the stupid fish. Oh well. At least Dennis hooked onto a R.E.A.L. fish. He had a whopper, we figure at least 20 pounds. When he hooked it and started reeling in, the thing took off for deeper water and took all of the line on his reel. He fought and fought it and finally got it about 5 feet from shore and his line BROKE:( We both could of just cried. I wish I had caught it on film. I was working on getting the camera out of the bag when the line snapped.

Then we headed to Capital Reef National Park. We spent the first night there alone, just the two of us, then Alisha and her two boys, Amanda, Steve and their kids, Malinda, Brian and their two girls and my mom and dad all came down on Friday. We stayed in the campground in the middle of the park called the "Fruita Campground" because of all the fruit trees around there. It was a really neat place to visit. None of my family had been there before except my mom and dad. If you like hiking, and you haven't been there, you really need to go. It is beautiful. It was a really fun way to spend the 4th of July weekend.

Wow, it looks like you guys had such a great time! It reminds me of all of our yearly Nash family campouts we used to do.
