Out of the mouth of babes

We were talking with Amanda tonight and she was telling us something that 3 year old P had said earlier today, so we started asking him questions like this:
What are you - a boy
What is L - a girl
What is R - a baby
What is grandma - OLD!

All hysteria broke loose and we were all rolling (literally) on the floor. He was so innocent in his comment and it was totally unexpected. I guess to a 3 year old I do appear "OLD".

Then he just volunteered...
Grandpa - you're funny.

What would we ever do without these beautiful rare moments?!?

Did I say SNOW!

Well I got my wish. Snow! and lots of it, heavy, I mean HEAVY - WET snow. My trusty snow shovel and I went over our driveway 3 different times today and Dennis went over it once. I also got to help out some of our elderly neighbors and did theirs, but the snow kept coming and I had to get ready for church. Another kind neighbor ended doing theirs again later.

I LOVE THE SNOW!!!

PLEASE LET IT SNOW!!!

Beautiful white flakes covering the drab and dreary ground.

Lovely white fluffy snow to shovel with my new shovel side by side with my hubby.

Pure Delight :)

I have to follow the last blog with a happy note. When I got off work on Monday I went to visit the 3 sweet grandchildren here in Orem. When little miss L saw me she came running as fast as she could all the while just bawling. Amanda says it was because she was tired. I like to think that she had missed me so much that she just didn't know how to react. I don't think we have ever gone more that a few days without seeing each other. She is my little sidekick. Whenever I am around, she always wants ME. That sure makes this old woman feel REALLY GOOD!

Here are some of my other grandchildren that bring joy to my heart.

SAD:(

I miss my family! No matter where I am, I miss those that are not with us. I once told my children that when they got married they could not move any further away than 20 miles. I wanted to have my family close and always doing things together. I can't (and don't) always get my way, so... we might just have to buy a motor home and take turns spending time with each family. Here are a few pics of the sweeties I am missing right now.

Baby blessing

Isn't she just so precious.

We just BARELY made it in time to her own baby blessing. The Bishop (and friends who were there) probably were wondering what was up. We were ready to go, but were waiting on Brian's family. His dad's suit was in the car at the apartment and not at the motel with them, so he had to quickly change at the apartment. No one could just go on to church because we did not know where it was and it was a 20 minute drive. We arrived just as the opening prayer was finished. It was a bit strange to walk to the front of the chapel (that is where the friends were saving a seat for all of us), all 12 of us. Anyway all was good and the blessing was beautiful. Brian did an awesome job.

Rock Band anyone?

Well I am here to tell you that even old foggies like us can learn new tricks (or this case, new games). We were introduced to Rock Band tonight and it was VERY FUN!!! My favorite part was the drums. Dennis killed at singing. Kellie and Victor were pro's, due to it being their game and they have played it a few times.

Look at Kellie belt that song out - looks like a pro doesn't she.

Chillin' with cousins

This morning I went for a 3 mile walk with Kellie and Victor. Dennis went for a 4 mile run which he really enjoyed (I didn't hold him back with my walk/run/walk/run). Later they took us out to lunch at a quaint little restaurant called Kerby Lane. We all had Mexican food although that was not all they had on the menu. Then they took us on a tour of the area. We toured the Edwards Aquifer Aqueduct. Beautiful clear water (all the lakes we have seen here are brown and muddy looking), and cold. Below is a picture of someone swimming in the frigid but beautiful clear water. The birds and squirrels are so used to people feeding them that they come right up to you begging for food. The black birds were neat looking. I wanted Dennis to take a picture of the flock of pigeons because they had bright teal and purple coloring, but he wouldn't.

Texas - Day 2

Today is nice and sunny, just a bit chilly. In Utah it would be a balmy winter day, but here it feels chilly. Someone said it is probably due to the humidity which makes the air feel colder whereas in the Utah desert the air is dry and therefore feels warmer.

We are having a great time visiting with Malinda and Brian. Baby A does what all newborns do - eat, sleep, eat, sleep and poop.

Sister K. has warmed up to us both now and often gives us kisses and wants to be held. I just love that it hardly took her anytime to warm up to us. She is just the cutest thing, always jabbering away. Here she is playing in the box we brought the groceries home from Costco in.

Brian had asked Dennis prior to our coming down if he would be able to help put new front and back brakes on their car. Today was the only day they had to do it.

Malinda and I went shopping while they worked on the car. Brian had told us that Target was having an extra 30% off all their clothes today, plus the 10% discount he gets for working there, so of course we had to go. I bought quite a bit of Christmas clothes for next year plus some baby gifts. I could do all this, because we basically have an empty suitcase we have to pay to check in. It is what we brought their Christmas and baby gifts in.

Vacation day 1 & 2

We were scheduled to leave the Salt Lake airport yesterday at 5:10 pm. The plane was all loaded and ready to leave when they encountered a problem and we sat and sat and .........SAT, SAT, SAT, for over an hour. The delay caused us (and most of the people on the plane) to miss our connecting flight in Phoenix. I felt so bad for the guy at the airline counter that had to help us with our new flight arrangements. Some of the passengers were so mad and yelling. It wasn't the poor guys fault the plane had mechanical problems. I am just glad that they were concerned with our safety and got everything checked out. The airlines put us up in a motel for the night. By the time we got to the motel we were starving. It was nearly 9:00 pm. The only restaurant around for over a mile was across the street at the Sheraton. When we got there it was closed. Since we had no car, it was dark, late and we didn't know the area we went back to our room and ordered pizza. I did some blogging and then off to sleep.

This morning we got up and went for a run. I was glad we hadn't ventured out (on foot) the night before looking for a place to eat, as we were in an area similar to an industrial area. We had a good run, and went back to shower and get ready for the day. It was pretty interesting beings some of our stuff was in our checked in luggage that the airlines had at the airport. We opted not to bring many toiletries (because of the 3 oz rules),we knew that Malinda would have the things we would need to use. The curling iron was not in our carry on bags as we supposed I wouldn't need it until we were in Texas. Anyway it was an interesting delay to our trip. But we got to Texas without any further incidents. Phoenix was pretty warm for this time of year, but Austin TX is kind of cold. We have had to run the heater in the rental car quite a bit. Malinda informed us that I was invited to a baby shower the bishop's wife was having for her. It was such a nice shower. It was a full dinner with salad, chicken enchiladas, tomato & rice dish, fruit, and dessert. Then everyone went around and introduced themselves. The ward members gave her and baby A a lot of nice gifts. The nicest gift of all A sit and stand stroller. (group gift). It was so nice to see Dennis' cousin Kellie again. She has been so good to Malinda and Brian since they moved here to Austin. She came to the shower and her and I had a great time catching up. We are looking forward to spending a couple of nights with them in a few days.

I was afraid that K would not remember me from last summer, and I was right. It has taken her awhile to warm up to us, but she is warming up. Baby A. is so cute with her full head of dark hair. We brought all their Christmas presents with us and so had a belated Christmas party of sorts opening presents. It was so much fun watching K. play with hers. Malinda also got to open baby gifts from family in Utah. It has been a good day and is now time for bed.

I got my wish!

IT IS SNOWING!!!!

If it is going to be cold and drab in January then the best way to enjoy it is with beautiful white snow. Tubing, sledding, skiing, snowboarding, snowmen, snow forts, snow balls....

And yes! SHOVELING - I love shoveling snow! (Remember my favorite snow shovel I found?)Link Here We plan to get up at 5:00 in the morning and shovel the neighborhood in place of exercising. I can't wait.

Got Skype?

What an amazing invention Skype is. We are so blessed to live in a day when there are so many inventions and modern technology that link us to pretty much anything we want. We have Skyped with Malinda and her family every day since baby A was born. Here are some more cute photos from that cyber visit.

SMILING

Little Miss K trying to touch the screen

This was the first time Little Miss K talked with us, and she sure jabbered away. Then I started singing to her. Whenever I would stop, she would start singing. It was so cute. This picture is of her singing.

Here are some pictures of Baby A.
